The humble Columbus game development scene that gave us a lot of helpful input on Thong Girl has been growing and producing some awesome games lately. I’ve gotten to play most of them and it’s time to share a few of my favorites.
Lemma is a first-person parkour puzzle game by a small team led by Evan Todd. The speedrunner in me is really excited about the possibilities of altering the environment with your parkour moves and the endless potential for new tricks and routes.
Super creative solo developer Smiling Cat Entertainment just completed Breaking Block, a free-to-play mobile game that polishes the Arkanoid style of brick smashing to a mirror shine. You don’t have to wait on this one! It’s out now on Google Play and will be on the iOS App Store any day now.
Multivarious Games has put in a lot of work organizing the Columbus game developer community and getting us motivated to create and promote our games. They’re working on a charming ice physics puzzle game called Hatch-It. It has a Kickstarter going on right now, so please support them if you want to see them go big.
We hope they’ll all be at the Ohio Game Developer Expo coming up October 24th-25th at COSI in downtown Columbus. We just might have something to show off, too. Stay tuned!
